Here’s an idea of what’s involved in rigging for a show. This is a video of a time lapse film shot whilst we were setting up for Westcliff High School for Girls production of “Grease”.

Q: How does it work when we want Mac Productions to provide all of our technical needs for a show?
A: We would arrange a meeting with you as early as possible. We would discuss your needs and what you want to achieve from your show. Also we would talk about your venue if you have booked it already. (If your venue was one that we had not worked at before we would make a site visit.) The next meeting would be about 6-8 weeks before the show. We would confirm what we think you need and discuss anything else that might need to be added or taken out due to change of show material. After this meeting we will produce a quote. We come to watch your rehearsals and if possible a full run in costume at your place of rehearsal. This will let us see what your show looks like and give us a chance to make notes and help with the sound and lighting design. After this we would take any music you have and put it all onto mini-disk ready for your show. We would arrange for everything to be set up at the Theatre or Venue for both rehearsals and show/shows. Finally (if required) we would arrange a de-brief meeting to provide feedback.
Q: How far do Mac Productions travel?
A: We are based in Wickford, Essex but we travel all over the UK.
Q: How much does it cost?
A: This is worked out on an individual basis and we only quote after we know your needs. But if you would like more information about anything you have in mind please feel free to contact us by email firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 01268 561384
Q: What if we don’t use a theatre?
A: We are used to working in all types of venue as well as theatres and this would not be a problem. We would have to come and inspect any venue before we committed to the show as it might not be suitable to use (i.e. there might not be enough power in the building). Again please contact us and we will do our best.
Q: Does Mac Productions just hire equipment?
A: Yes. We will ‘dry hire’ if you already have people that will do your technical bits for you.
Q: What if we just need crew?
A: We are happy to come along and operate the equipment that you may already have in your theatre, school or venue as long as it will do the job that we think you want. (We can always advise you on this.)
Q: Can Mac Productions produce a DVD of our show?
A: Mac Productions itself does not record shows but we work closely with a company that does and we can arrange this for you.
Q: If we needed anything that we cannot see listed on the Mac Productions web site could you get this for us?
